Breast augmentation is undoubtedly the most popular plastic surgery among women all over the world. In modern culture and in many coastal countries such as the countries around the basin of the Mediterranean and Brazil, where the culture of leisure and summer fashion stands out the breast, many women attach great importance to aesthetics that affect the feeling of femininity and self-confidence. In most cases, breast augmentation is performed for purely cosmetic reasons, for women who are not satisfied with the size of their breast, or for women whose breasts did not develop properly, and for those who suffer from an asymmetry of their breasts.
Preparing for breast augmentation surgery includes a pre-surgery consultative meeting, in which the surgeon asks about whether the patient has certain diseases, which may not allow surgery, and about the reasons that prompted the patient to resort to this surgery. The size of the implant is chosen in such a way that it does not harm the natural breast tissue: it has to conform to body scales, relative to the chest circumference. There are several factors that influence the choice of the size of the silicone implant: the amount of skin and breast gland present, the thickness and elasticity of the breast tissue, the circumference of the rib cage, the width of the breast, the distance between the breasts, and the shape of the muscles in this region. Breast size is not considered a medical scale, there are no measures and there will be no measures that determine what the normal size of the breast is, so there is no scale that can indicate abnormal breasts from the normal position, or very small or very large breast and others. Before the surgery, the doctor will send the patient to perform some tests as needed. In most cases, there is no need for multiple tests except for the comprehensive blood count (CBC) and blood chemistry. But older women may be asked to have a chest imaging examination before surgery. Consult the doctor about medications that should be stopped before surgery. Patients should stop taking Aspirin and all kinds of blood thinners and anti-inflammatory medicines at least 2 weeks before the surgery. Patients who suffer from anemia should be asked to take iron. Patients should stop smoking at least 2 weeks before and after the surgery. Patients should avoid alcohol at least one week before surgery. They should not drink anything (including water) after midnight and eat anything at least 8 hours before surgery.
